In the Point of Sale, attendants can only search by name and can sometimes select the wrong account with the same last name when things are busy. Allowing them to search by account number ensures they are correctly selecting the account for the order.
Good suggestion. I’m flagging this to upgrade to the POS account search to support the full range of options supported at checkin, including via barcode or QR code on the mobile app.
Do you have a timeframe for this upgrade? We are beginning conversion of our data base and have several members with the same first AND last name. Thank you.
Hi Charlie,
I should be able to get that out today. I’ll post an update here as soon as it is complete.
It’s live now. You can search by name or account number. Pretty easy to add additional search fields if anybody has a use case for that.
Under the Point of Sale settings you can set a default Search Method that will be selected initially (useful if you usually are going to look up by one or the other).
This solution needs to be reconsidered. It takes away the original functionality that allowed searching on the name and the ability to select a specific member on the account to be charged. Now, searching on a name or account only allows charging the billing contact - there is no way to charge another member on the account. And no way to see the account details such as picture, age, and address for verification. This functionality was eliminated with the addition of the account number lookup:
Yes, all good points. What was the reason for changing the functionality?
Thanks for flagging this. That doesn’t sound like the intended functionality. The ability to search by member name and charge a specific individual on the account should still be available. We’ll review what changed with the account number lookup update and confirm whether this behavior is expected.
Thanks. Also, when you search by name, it brings up all account types, even closed. I don’t think that was how it was previously. I thought that we could limit the account types that showed up in the search. For example, I searched for “schum” and it displayed 3 accounts, two of them closed. You should not be able to bill a closed account.
We’re updating this now, should be live within the next few hours.
The Point of Sale search is now updated:
- All members on the account are returned in the results;
- The member’s picture (if available) is included;
- Closed accounts are filtered out;
- House guests are included in the results during the time period their guest access is active;
- You can now choose which account types should be included in the results (default is all, other than closed);
- You can choose which fields you would like included in the table via the Columns selector;
Thanks. I see that Closed accounts no longer are displayed. Great! don’t remember, but did we previously have the option of configuring the search to only display certain account types? For example, we would only want to include Member, Member + Lap Swim, and Volunteer. Also, the sort does not appear to work for Acct Type and Name.
It was previously using the same allowed account types as the front desk check-in. That’s now split into its own settings (from the main POS screen click on Settings at the top left). By default it allows all account types. If you select any it will restrict the results to those.
The table columns are now sortable as well.
Previously the POS displayed the age of the member. This was very useful in making sure the correct person is being charged. I don’t see a way to display the age. It is not an option on the columns selector.
Hi @sueellen , I just added that column in. The update is going out now.
