A club has submitted a request to add bulk text message communications alongside the email communications so they could, for example, notify members the pool is closed via text message rather than relying on email, which many members don’t check as frequently.

We use something similar from Slick Text which is a CRM platform and find it very useful. The slick text version allows non members to sign up for weather alerts so that’s a benefit to not have it limited to members in MS. Reaching members only would be useful for payment reminders. It is a correct statement that members don’t read emails and they often land in spam or junk.
Most mass texting services charge a fee per message - I’m not sure every club would want to spend the money on that. A few years ago, several of our members asked us to create a WhatsApp group for pool closings - since many of our members already use it for various school or community groups. So that became our primary method of notifying our members of closures - along with a status message that the staff can easily set on our website. Since not everyone will use any single platform, it’s hard to come up with a single solution that will make everyone happy.
